Fresh Off the Boat

"Fresh Off the Boat" by Eddie Huang is a memoir about growing up Asian in Orlando in the 90s. It was a bit too slangy for my taste, I'm not cool enough to understand what the heck he's talking about, but the message about pursuing dreams and not being afraid of failure was good. He now runs a very successful restaurant in New York and they're apparently making a TV series based off this book, so he did pretty well for himself. The parts I did understand were somewhat funny, but a lot of it was dark humor, about being picked on for being Asian, etc. The kind of stuff you feel bad about laughing about, even though he's deliberately writing it in a way to make you laugh.
